The democrats ot this county ought to feel proud of the fight they have made. Two years agn this county went 1,198 republican 011 the Stte ticket and this year we reduced the majority as against Mr, J. R. riwann for sheriff 10 568 whi'e the whole fight of the opposition was turned loose on him with all the means that could be used at their command. Siuce the people have spoken we cheerfully submit to the will of the majority and it will be the purpos of this paper for the next two years to hold up the hands of every county offic-r who is trying to do his duty and comp'y with the law, no matter to which po litical party he belongs. We will also give all county records as they are made by the various county officers and should th-sy fail to comply with the law in the dischargH of their duty we will also call that fact to the attention of cur readers. VVe will not do so through any spirii of criticism but iu justice to our lea.'ers who look to us to keep them informed about all such matters anc also for the benefit of the taxpayers of tho county. It is perfectly clear to an observing mind that it the young democracy ot tha county continue the fight that they 1 eve begun and stand, to it in the face of defeat as they hav done this iicfe, that at no great distance iu the future Madison will be back at her old place in the democratic; column of counties.- I It will be one of the leading , . .. . 1 . 1 purppcos 01 this p;iper to bring to t fcllV KlilllilOU U1C UUI9IUC WV11U I. - I. .!.. t C -..!.!. n 1 A I D the great natural reeources of the county and o do morv than it si are in the promotion of H laud- able enterpriees that hok to the up kiu .: : bnildir.gofoureect.on. . . . -'.
